Vehicle break-ins in East Amherst 

November 5, 2019, East Amherst, Nova Scotia…Cumberland District RCMP is requesting public help to solve a number of recent break and enter and thefts from motor vehicles.

Between October 30 and October 31, at least three vehicles were entered and rummaged through on D’Orsay Rd. in East Amherst. Stolen items include: a GPS unit, an electric multimeter, a t-shirt, and two pairs of prescription glasses.

November 5, 2019, Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia… At 4:25 p.m. on November 4, Halifax District RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress at a home in Kingswood North Subdivision in Hammonds Plains.

The homeowner alerted police who immediately responded and found the suspects had fled with an undisclosed amount of property. Investigators were assisted at the scene by RCMP Forensic Identification Services. Photos were obtained from the home and are being released in hope of identifying the persons involved. The suspects are both male and left the area in a silver Toyota minivan.

Police investigate two break and enter

At 1:09 a.m. police responded to a business in the 6000 block of Quinpool Road after a passerby observed an individual leaving through a broken window. Police discovered the business had been broken into and merchandise was stolen. The suspect was not located.

At 1:41 a.m. police responded to another business in the 6200 block of Quinpool Road after the front door of the business was smashed out. The suspect was unable to gain entry into the business and no property was stolen. The suspect was not located.

November 1, 2019, Timberlea, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is asking for the public’s help to solve a break, enter and theft that occurred at a home in Timberlea.

Sometime between 6:30 p.m on October 30 and 9:30 a.m. on October 31, a suspect(s) entered a home under renovation on Wedgewood Ave. and left with a number of tools. Some of the items missing include an angle grinder V60 with battery, a diamond blade concrete grinder, levels, a jigsaw, a concrete saw and a Dewalt radio.

Police look to speak with driver in vehicle/cyclist collision

Halifax Regional Police are looking to speak with the cyclist involved in a motor vehicle/cyclist collision that occurred earlier this month in Halifax.

On November 01 at approximately 3:45 p.m. police responded to a report of a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist in the intersection of Preston St / Pepperell St in Halifax.  The vehicle was headed southbound on Preston Street when it was struck by a cyclist traveling westbound on Pepperell Street.  The cyclist is described as a Caucasian male approx 6’1″, in his 20s, wearing a black long sleeve shirt, black pants, white bicycle helmet, and white sneakers and may go by the name Alex.

The cyclist did not remain at the scene after the collision and police are looking to speak with him.

Can Am side by side stolen in South Rawdon

Sometime between the afternoon of Nov. 2nd (Saturday) and the morning of Nov. 3rd (Sunday) suspect(s) entered onto a property on Owen Davis Drive, South Rawdon and stole a yellow 2012 Can Am Commander side by side.  The suspect(s) did not have the keys. It had Nova Scotia licence plate FA930.  There are approximately 9000km on the ATV. It has after market SS rims on the tires and Can Am doors.

November 1, 2019, Coldbrook, Nova Scotia . . . On October 31 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Kings District RCMP responded to a call in Coldbrook indicating a parent had found cannabis edibles in their child’s Halloween treats. The package has a Halloween-themed label on the front and contains several jujube candies inside. A sticker on the back of the package indicates THC content of the candies, which alerted the parent.

Kings District RCMP seized the item. The parent advised police they had a group of eight children with them and were out trick-or-treating in the areas of Cambridge, Kentville, and Coldbrook and do not know which home the cannabis edibles came from. All eight children’s treats were checked by an adult and none of the other children in the group received the same type of treats.

The RCMP is reminding parents and guardians to carefully inspect their youth’s Halloween treats for anything that may have been tampered with or may be cannabis edibles. Should you find anything that appears suspicious, contact the RCMP from anywhere in the province by calling 1-800-803-RCMP.

Police are investigating an assault that occurred in Halifax last night.

At approximately 12:20 a.m. police were called to a residence in the 6100 block of Willow Street in Halifax for a report of an assault that had just occurred. A man and woman were confronted at the back door of their residence by two men, one of which was believed to have a firearm. The suspects assaulted the man and then fled.

The suspects are described as black males with light complexions average builds, between 5’6″-5’8″, wearing black toques, navy blue bandannas with a white design on them, dark hooded sweatshirts and dark jeans.

The victim currently remains in hospital for treatment of the injuries he sustained during the assault.

Investigators do not believe this to be a random incident.

Police issue arrest warrant for man in relation to Scotiabank robbery

Investigators in the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have issued an arrest warrant for Peter Guy Joseph Monteith in relation to a recent robbery at the Scotiabank in downtown Dartmouth.

 

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on October 9, police responded to a robbery that had just occurred at the Scotiabank located at 91 Portland Street in Dartmouth. A man came into the bank, jumped the counter and took cash from the teller. There were no weapons seen and there were no injuries reported. The man fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Monteith, 43, is described as a white male, 5’11”, 188 lbs with brown hair and green eyes. He is believed to be in the Halifax-area and police are currently searching for him.

 

Members of the public are asked to not approach Monteith or take matters into their own hands. Police seeking assistance in locating stolen bicycle

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a bicycle that was stolen in Halifax.

On June 1, police received a report of a bicycle that was stolen from a residence in the 6200 block of Yukon Street in Halifax.

At approximately 11 a.m. on July 12 the owner saw what she believed to be her bicycle in the possession of a man taking the ferry from Dartmouth to Halifax. Police do not believe this man to be responsible for the original theft but would like to speak with him in relation to the incident.

The man is described as white 5’5”, 150 lbs, with gray hair. He was wearing a yellow jacket and green tilly style hat.

The bicycle is a white 2014 Brodie Dynamo women’s 18 speed bike.
