Halifax Regional Police is investigating multiple reports of thefts from vehicles that occurred last week.
Between April 5 and 11, Halifax Regional Police received 31 reports of thefts from vehicles throughout the region.

The investigations into these incidents are ongoing and we encourage anyone who had property stolen from their vehicle to report it to police.

Police Investigate Break & Enter – Dartmouth
At 2:03 p.m., on the 15th of April, a Halifax Regional Police officer in a marked police vehicle was conducting a routine patrol of a construction site located at the 300 block of Higney Avenue in Dartmouth, when he came upon two suspects who had broken into a construction trailer and were loading tools from the construction trailer into their vehicle. When the suspects noticed the officer they fled from the scene in their vehicle. The officer followed the suspect vehicle, behind the blacked out area of the commercial building which was under construction, and the suspect vehicle drove into a recently dugout utility trench. The police vehicle also went into the trench striking the suspect vehicle from behind. Other police units arrived on scene and both suspects were taken into custody. Neither the officer or the two suspects were injured.
One suspect a 34 year-old male from Bedford is being held for court and is facing the following Criminal Code charges: Break & Enter, Fleeing Police, Driving while Prohibited and Breaches of Undertaking.
The other suspect a 39 year-old female from Dartmouth is facing the Criminal Code charge of Break and Enter and was released on documents to appear in court at a later date.

Colchester RCMP seeking information on robbery
April 14, 2020, Bible Hill, Nova Scotia . . . On April 14 at approximately 3:25 a.m., a lone male, dressed in black clothing and with his face covered, entered a convenience store on Main St. in Bible Hill. The man displayed a weapon and demanded money and cigarettes from the lone female attendant. No one else was in the store at the time and no one was injured during the incident. A small amount of cash and cigarettes were handed over before the man fled on foot. The man is described as over 6 feet tall, thin, with light brown skin and freckles across his upper cheeks and the bridge of his nose.

On April, 13, 2020 at 0330 am a call was received of a vehicle fire on the grounds of Dartmouth High School at 95 Victoria Rd, Dartmouth. Halifax Regional Police and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service responded. When police and fire arrived the vehicle was fully engulfed and it appeared to have struck the school. After the fire was extinguished and examination of the vehicle suggested the fire was deliberately set. Officers also discovered what is believed to be bullet holes in the engine bonnet of the vehicle. There was minimal damage to the school as a result of the incident. The vehicle was discovered to have been stolen over night when police made contact with the owner.

Just after 12:00 a.m. officers with Halifax Regional Police along with Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency personnel responded to reports of multiple vehicles on fire in the parking lot of a business located in the 800 block of Old Sambro Road in Halifax.
No one was injured in this fire which was quickly extinguished by Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency.
Preliminary investigation by responding officers suggests that the fire is suspicious and that it began at one unoccupied vehicle which was destroyed and spread to a second unoccupied vehicle parked nearby.

Police are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth at 7:15 p.m. April 10th
At approximately 7:15 p.m. Halifax Regional Police received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Circle K store located at 200 Waverley Road. A man entered the store, threatened a staff member with a knife and demanded money. The man then fled on foot with an amount of money and cigarettes. The staff member was not injured.
The suspect is described a 6ft tall, stocky build, wearing black leggings, a black sweater and carrying a green bag.

Man arrested in connection to robbery,
At approximately 11:27 p.m. on March 21, officers responded to a report of a robbery at Needs Convenience Store located at 100 Highfield Park Drive. Two men entered the store and directed the lone customer to lie on the floor and then they approached the counter and directed the employee behind the counter to fill a garbage bag with cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of money. One male produced a firearm and the other male produced a knife. Neither the customer nor the employee were injured.
One suspect was described as a male, heavy set, wearing gloves, a balaclava over his head and a dark jacket. This suspect brandished the firearm.
The second suspect is described as a male, skinny build, wearing gloves, a balaclava over his head, white or light grey colored pants. This suspect brandished the knife.
Both suspects fled the store on foot and ran in a westerly direction.
The police service dog was deployed – suspects were not located but evidence related to the robbery was recovered.
Through the course of the investigation the suspect believed to have the firearm was identified. On March 25th, 2020 Officers assigned to the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division arrested a 43-year-old Dartmouth man. He will be facing the following charges, Robbery contrary to section Sec 343(d) of the Criminal Code and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 (1) of the Criminal Code. The firearm was not recovered.
He will appear in Provincial Court in Dartmouth on March 26th, 2020.

Police investigate Robbery – Dartmouth
At 8:46 p.m., on the 23rd of March, Halifax Regional Police responded to a robbery that had just occurred at the Leonard’s Convenience, 95 Caledonia Road Dartmouth. Staff reported two males wearing masks and one armed with a hammer entered the store demanding money and cigarettes. The suspects left with an undisclosed amount of and cigarettes and fled in a dark coloured SUV.
Patrol officers and members of the General Investigation Section responded but could not locate the suspects or vehicle. No one involved was injured. The suspects are described as:
Suspect #1 – White male, 6’0”, 250 lbs, 25-40 years, wearing all black clothing and face mask.
Suspect #2 – White male, 150 lbs, 25-40 years, wearing all black clothes and face mask.
