Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth on June 2, 2020.

At approximately 3:35 p.m. Halifax Regional Police received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Petro Canada station located at 240 Victoria Road, Dartmouth. A man entered the store and threatened a female staff member with a knife and demanded money. The man then fled on foot toward Albro Lake Road with an amount of money leaving the weapon behind. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid- 40’s, 5’10”, medium build, with grey facial hair. He was wearing a teal colored windbreaker, a camouflage ball cap with a dark rim, black track pants and white sneakers.

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a robbery that occurred this afternoon in Dartmouth.

At 4:41 p.m. on May 30, 2020, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Irving Circle K Gas Station located at 10 Highfield Park Drive. A male entered the Gas Station and produced a bread knife to the female employee, he told her to empty the money from the till and give it to him or he would kill her. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money from the till and stuffed the money in his pants pocket. The suspect was last seen leaving on foot running west on Highfield Park Drive. The female employee and another off duty female employee who was also in the store were not injured.

The suspect is described as a white male, mid 40’s. 5’10”, medium build, white facial hair. He was wearing a ball cap with a dark rim. a baggy beige ¼ zipper hooded jacket with the hood pulled up over the ball cap, blue baggy pants with a white stripe down the sides of the pants and two stripes around the ankles of the pants, he wore white sneakers as footwear.

The police service dog attended the scene and began a track locating some of the suspects clothing.

Chester RCMP has received 2 complaint of thefts from the Hubbards NSLC. On 2020-05-20 and again on 2020-05-23, a white male wearing a black mask (surgical style) entered the store with a black bag and stole several liquor bottles and then barged out of the store and left in a light coloured older model Mazda 3. In one incident the theft suspect was the passenger. The driver was described as a bald, dark complected male. The license plate attached to the vehicle was a New Brunswick license plate “JLP 893.”

The male with the black mask is described as a white male, short black hair, approximately 5’5″ tall, with a medium build.

At 02:56 a.m., Halifax Regional Police were dispatched to 389 Bedford Highway, Halifax, the Birch Cove Irving, for a robbery in progress. Suspect used a knife in the commission of the offence. No injuries.

Suspect described as a white male, shaved head, blue hat, Brooklyn NY sweater, grey khakis, and blue/brown boots. Suspect also had a grey face mask, described as homemade non-medical grade, and clear plastic gloves. Suspect took cartons of cigarettes/filled old Sobey’s bag w/ cash from till. Suspect last seen leaving area on foot, heading towards the Wedgewood Motel. K9 dispatched to scene.

Multiple police units currently assisting with scene containment and search of suspect. K9 track in progress. Residents in the area are asked to avoid this area, while search is being conducted.

May 27, 2020, Kings and Hants Counties, Nova Scotia . . . The RCMP’s Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is investigating two incidents that occurred in Kings and Hants Counties on May 24, including a homicide and a home invasion.

During the early morning hours on May 24, two residents fled their home on Ridge Rd. in Wolfville, Kings County after unknown persons entered their residence while they were sleeping. When police arrived at the scene they found evidence that someone had been injured, but it was not the homeowners. The homeowners do not know the identity of the intruders, however the attack is not believed to be random. The suspects were seen leaving the area in a grey van.

A short time after 7 a.m. the same day, a vehicle fire was reported to police in the Rock Rd. area of St. Croix, in Hants County. The vehicle involved was a grey van and police found human remains inside. Police are also working with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service to determine the identity of the deceased person. Positive identification has not yet been made.

The investigation is ongoing. The MCU is being assisted by members of RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Special Tactical Operations, Underwater Recovery Team, and Nova Scotia RCMP’s Remotely Piloted Aircraft Services. Police have interviewed multiple witnesses in order to assist with the investigation, however are continuing to ask anyone who has information about the incidents to contact the MCU office at 902-365-3120. On May 26, 2020 at 7:18 pm Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a man that had been sprayed with a sensory irritant in the 40-50 block of King St in Dartmouth.   The man did not require medical treatment.   There were four persons in the group of suspects but only two could be described.  First was a white male who was 20-25 years of age, tall and had a bald head.  He was wearing a white and grey puffy jacket and white and grey camouflage pants.  The second suspect is a white male who is 20-25 year of age and has brown hair.  He was wearing a white t-shirt with  a black long sleeve shirt with white on one sleeve under the t-shirt and blue jeans.  All parties appear to be known to one another.  The incident is still under investigation.

Police are investigating a report of a stabbing that occurred on a bus in Halifax earlier this week.

At approximately 7 p.m. on May 24 police received a report of an assault that had just occurred on a Halifax Transit bus, involving two men and a woman in which two of the individuals are believed to have suffered non-life-threatening stabbing injuries. All three exited the bus in the area of Oxford and North Streets and headed in different directions.

Officers arrested a male suspect a short distance from where the three people exited the bus and seized two knives from him. He was later released without charges. Investigators have been unable to locate the two potential victims and are asking them or anyone with information about this incident to call police at 902-490-5020. Police charge man and woman for weapons offences

Police have charged a man and a woman with numerous weapons offences after stopping a suspected impaired driver.

At approximately 1:10 a.m. on May 25 officers stopped a vehicle in the 0-100 block of Kearney Lake Road in Halifax in relation to an impaired driving investigation. The male driver was issued a 7-day suspension for driving while impaired and the vehicle was seized. During the course of the investigation, officers determined that the vehicle was related to a theft under investigation by officers from the Lower Sackville Detachment of the RCMP. Officers observed a long gun and ammunition while securing the vehicle for seizure. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and seized a shot gun, ammunition and stolen property from the vehicle.

The male driver and a female passenger were arrested without incident.

A 39-year-old Lower Sackville man is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:

• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
• Unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle
• Unauthorized possession contrary to court order: firearm and ammunition (x 2)

A 25-year-old Middle Sackville woman is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:

• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
• Unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle
• Assault on a peace officer

Police arrest impaired driver with child in vehicle

May 26, 2020, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia…  A 26-year-old man from Middle Sackville faces impaired driving charges after a concerned caller contacted police in regards to a possible impaired driver. A child was located inside the vehicle.

On May 22, 8:25 p.m., Halifax Regional Police received a call of a possible impaired driver in Halifax. The caller provided a description of the vehicle and the license plate number to police. A member of the RCMP Southeast Traffic Service located the vehicle a short time later, in Lower Sackville. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested. A child was located safe inside the vehicle and was placed in the care of a responsible person. The driver was taken to the Lower Sackville RCMP detachment where he provided samples of his breath. The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on August 26 at 9:30 a.m.

Police looking to identify suspect in sexual assault

Police are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in Dartmouth.

On May 19 police received a report of a sexual assault that had occurred earlier in the day on the #60 Halifax Transit bus traveling from Eastern Passage to the Bridge Terminal on Wyse Road in Dartmouth.  A man got on the bus, sat down beside a girl who was not known to him and touched her in sexual manner. The girl exited the bus and told a trusted adult about the incident.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 30’s, average build, scruffy facial hair, medium-length tight curly black hair. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing grey sweat pants and possibly flip flops.
