Police are investigating an arson that occurred earlier today in Halifax.

At approximately 8:37 a.m. police and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency responded to a fire at a residence in the 3400 block of Barrington Street in Halifax. There was one adult female taken to hospital for smoke inhalation as a result of the fire. The fire was quickly extinguished by Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency.

Fire investigators believe the fire was intentionally set. The investigation is in the preliminary stages and investigators in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are asking anyone with information about this incident to call 902-490-5020. Break & Enter, New Minas

August 4, 2020, New Minas, Nova Scotia… Kings District RCMP is asking for the public’s help to solve a break and enter to a music store in New Minas, which resulted in the theft of several guitars.

On the morning of July 31 at 3:50 a.m., New Minas RCMP responded to a break and enter at a business on Commercial St. in New Minas. When police arrived, they found that the front doors made of glass had been smashed. It appeared that this allowed the suspects to enter the store.

Further investigation revealed that at least six guitars, and an amplifier were stolen from the store. The stolen items included the following:

  • Hughes & Kettner Amplifier – Black
  • Gibson Studio Acoustic Guitar – Sunburst
  • Martin Acoustic Guitar – Natural
  • Taylor Acoustic Guitar – Natural
  • Taylor Acoustic Guitar – Natural
  • Gibson Les Paul Standard- Electric Guitar- Cherry Sunburst
  • Gibson Les Paul Standard- Electric guitar – Iced Tea

 

Suspects are seen on video surveillance breaking the glass door, entering the store and removing merchandise and exiting through the same smashed door. One suspect is heavy build, wearing a light and dark ball cap with a oval logo, a dark mask, dark jacket, shorts, and shoes. The second suspect is smaller, wearing a dark jacket, dark jeans and sneakers.

Armed Robbery, Halifax

On August 1st, 2020  at approximately 5:50pm police were called to an armed robbery that had just occurred in the 1800 block of Hollis Street, Halifax.  Three males wearing masks entered the business with a firearm and obtained cash and took merchandise before leaving and fleeing in a car.  There were no injuries. Witnesses were interviewed and the car was located on Olive Street in Bedford.  Police contained the residence, arrested three suspects and the house was searched. Two youths and one adult male will appear in court at a later date to face the robbery and weapons charges.

On July 24th 2020 at 10:15 p.m., Halifax Regional Police were dispatched to 2616 Robie Street, Halifax, the Shell Gas Station/Needs Convenience Store, for a robbery in progress. Suspect used a firearm in the commission of the offence. No injuries.

Suspect described as a white male, believed to be in his 20’s, approximately 6 feet tall, slim build, wearing a grey hoodie, black face mask, and black pants. Suspect took cash from the till. Suspect was last seen leaving the area on foot, heading towards Clifton Street. K9 dispatched to scene.

Multiple police units assisted with scene containment and search of suspect. Suspect not located at this time.

On July 30th, 2020 at 10:49 p.m., Halifax Regional Police were dispatched to 5450 Inglis Street, Halifax, the Irving Gas Station, for a robbery in progress. Suspect indicated he had a firearm during the commission of the offence. No injuries.

Suspect described as a white male, believed to be 20-30 years old, 5’6″, black mask, black hoodie, and black pants. Suspect took cash from the till. Suspect was last seen leaving on foot.  Unknown whether he continued on foot or left area in a vehicle. K9 dispatched to scene.

Multiple police units are currently assisting with scene containment and search of suspect.

Help solve break, enter and theft of cigarettes

July 24, 2020, Berwick, Nova Scotia…Kings District RCMP is asking for public help to solve a break and enter to a downtown business in Berwick, which resulted in the theft of cigarettes.

The morning of July 23, Kingston RCMP responded to a break and enter at a business on Commercial St. in Berwick. When police arrived, they found that the front door made of glass had been smashed. It appeared that this allowed the suspect to enter the store.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect entering the store and immediately dumping out the contents of a garbage can. They then locate cigarettes and put them into the garbage can and carries the garbage can with cigarettes out of the store.

The suspect was wearing a light coloured hoodie with the hood up, gloves, dark coloured pants and dark coloured shoes with light soles.

Police investigating shots fired

Police are investigating a report of shots fired that occurred yesterday in Halifax.

At approximately 4:25 p.m. police responded to a report of shots fired from a vehicle on Mayor Avenue in Halifax. Responding officers located a bullet hole in a residence. There were no reported injuries.

Pictou District RCMP investigate armed robbery

July 21, 2020, Plymouth, Nova Scotia . . . At 4 a.m., members of Pictou District RCMP responded to a call of an armed robbery at a service station on East River Rd. in Plymouth.

RCMP officers responded, and the learned that a lone suspect entered the store with a hatchet, and demanded cash and cigarettes from the cashier. There was no one else in the store at the time. The cashier complied, and no one was hurt. The suspect fled the store and the cashier pressed the panic alarm button, alerting police. Two witnesses who were outside saw the suspect get into the passenger side of a blue four door hatchback vehicle and quickly leave the area, towards New Glasgow on Park St.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6-foot tall with a heavy build, with a shaved head, wearing a black hoodie, dark shorts, white socks and black shoes. He was wearing a black face covering. An RCMP police dog and handler, as well as RCMP Forensic Identification Section, are assisting with the investigation.
