David Forbes wanted on province-wide arrest warrants

September 23, 2025, Middle Sackville, Nova Scotia… RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is seeking information on the whereabouts of David Gordon Alexander Forbes currently wanted on two province-wide arrest warrants.

Forbes, 35, is believed to be in the Halifax Regional Municipality.  He is wanted and facing charges of Theft Under $5000 (two counts), Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (two counts), and Possession and Use of a Stolen Credit Card.

Forbes is described as 5-foot-8, 176 pounds.  He has dark brown hair and hazel eyes. 

Police have made several attempts to locate Forbes and are requesting assistance from the public.

Darcy Raymond Delbert Caldwell wanted on province-wide arrest warrants

September 18, 2025, Halifax, Nova Scotia… RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is seeking information on the whereabouts of Darcy Raymond Delbert Caldwell currently wanted on two province-wide arrest warrants.

Caldwell, 37, is believed to be in the Halifax Regional Municipality.  He is wanted and facing charges of Being at Large on Release Order, Fail to Comply with Condition (two counts), Theft Over $5000, Fraud, Fail to Comply with Recognizance or Undertaking, and Theft Under $5000.

Caldwell is described as 6-foot-1, 200 pounds.  He has black hair and brown eyes.

Boland is described as 5-foot-9, 152 pounds.  He has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Police warn public regarding missing magazine and ammunition

Halifax Regional Police are reporting a lost police-issued firearm magazine containing ammunition. The magazine was lost last night after it fell from an officer’s pistol during the course of their duties.

HRP officers have been conducting a search for the missing magazine. Police remind members of the public that possession of police-issued equipment by the public is prohibited by law. Additionally, Nova Scotia’s Police Identity Management Act carries penalties for unlawful possession of police articles.

Lunenburg District RCMP looking to identify man involved in attempted robbery in Cookville

September 11, 2025, Cookville, Nova Scotia… Lunenburg District RCMP is requesting assistance from the public for help in identifying a man involved in a robbery in Cookville. 

On September 8, at approximately 9:08 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of a robbery at a business on Pine Grove Rd. 

Through the investigation, RCMP officers learned that a man had attempted to exit the business with unpaid merchandise, setting off the door alarm.  Bystanders attempted to stop the man which resulted in a physical struggle.  The man then struck one of the bystanders, causing minor injuries before fleeing on foot.  

At the time of the robbery, the man was wearing a white, blue and red plaid, button-up shirt, a black ballcap with a red and white design, blue jeans, and grey and white sneakers. Witnesses noted that he walked with a noticeable limp and used a walking cane which he left behind.

East Hants District RCMP looking to identify man involved in armed robbery in Elmsdale

September 10, 2025, Elmsdale, Nova Scotia… East Hants District RCMP is requesting assistance from the public for help in identifying a man involved in an armed robbery in Elmsdale. 

On September 8, at approximately 9:04 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of a robbery at a gas station on Hwy. 214. 

Through the investigation, RCMP officers learned that a man entered the gas station, presented a knife and threatened an employee, demanding that they turn over the contents of the till. 

The man left the store with a quantity of cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes in a backpack. He was last seen entering a silver or light grey hatchback. 

At the time of the robbery, the man was wearing a black ballcap with the initials, “KPMG”, a light grey hooded sweatshirt, light grey sweatpants, and black Adidas sneakers.

RCMP investigating theft of copper in Lower Sackville, appealing to public for information

September 5, 2025, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia… The RCMP/HRP Integrated General Investigation Section is investigating a theft from a construction site in Lower Sackville, and is appealing to the public for information. 

On August 20, RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of copper theft from a construction site in the 0-100 block of First Lake Dr.  Officers learned that someone had entered the fenced area, accessed the roof, and removed copper tubing from several heating, ventilation and air conditioning units.  It’s believed that the theft occurred sometime during the previous week. 

It’s estimated that the value of the damage and replacement costs amount to approximately $500,000. 

The RCMP/HRP General Investigation Section is leading the ongoing investigation.

RCMP investigating shooting in Cherry Brook and vehicle fire in East Preston, appealing to public for information

September 3, 2025, Cherry Brook, East Preston, Nova Scotia… The RCMP/HRP Integrated General Investigation Section is investigating a shooting in Cherry Brook and a vehicle fire in East Preston, and is appealing for information from the public. 

On September 1, at approximately 3:38 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, with the assistance of Halifax Regional Police, responded to reports of shots fired on Cherry Brook Rd. 

Through the investigation, officers located shell casings in the 100 block of Cherry Brook Rd., and learned two vehicles were involved: a black car and a brown or grey SUV.  With the assistance of the RCMP Forensic Identification Section, Halifax Regional Police (HRP) Canine Unit and RCMP Remote Piloted Aerial System, evidence was identified and gathered. 

At approximately 9:20 p.m., RCMP officers and fire services responded to a vehicle fire on Lake Eagle Dr. in East Preston.  Officers learned the burnt vehicle was an SUV and believe this is the SUV that was involved in the shooting that occurred in Cherry Brook. 

The investigations are ongoing.

Police continue to investigate murder of Douglas Keating

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the murder of Douglas Keating.

Douglas’ body was discovered by two pedestrians near the water tower behind 299 Main Avenue in Halifax around 10:50 a.m. on September 2, 2000. The investigation revealed that he had been assaulted and died of blunt force trauma. It is believed that Douglas was assaulted elsewhere, and his body was moved to where he was later found. Douglas was last seen alive the night before in the Fairview area.

The Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case and believes there are people who have information that could help solve Douglas’ murder. Investigators hope that the passage of time encourages them to do the right thing and share what they know with police. It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation into Douglas’ murder.

RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit investigating suspicious death in New Campbellton

August 31, New Campbellton, Nova Scotia… The RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit (NEN MCU) is investigating a suspicious death in New Campbellton.

On August 30, at approximately 1:20 p.m., Victoria County District RCMP received a report of an abandoned car believed to be that of a missing person from Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

Officers responded to the vehicle on New Campbellton Rd. and located a deceased 43-year-old man in the car. No one else was inside the vehicle.

The death is considered suspicious and the NEN MCU took lead of the investigation, supported by the Victoria County District RCMP, RCMP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.
