Vandals target property used by local residents 

December 7, 2018, Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia … A heated gazebo, which is used by local residents when they skate on an adjacent pond or sled on a nearby hill, was targeted by vandals this week.

Sometime between the morning of December 3 and the evening of December 5, vandals broke windows in the gazebo and damaged the parking lot at the property on Highway 374 in Sheet Harbour. The property is maintained by it’s owners and open to the community to use.

Halifax District RCMP is asking anyone with information regarding this act of vandalism to contact Sheet Harbour RCMP Detachment at 902-885-2510. RCMP look to identify ATV riders

December 6, 2018, Enfield, Nova Scotia … Enfield District RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying two ATV riders after several incidents involving their disregard for other motorists have been reported to RCMP.

Over the past few months, Enfield District RCMP have received numerous complaints involving ATV riders who have put themselves and other motorists at risk by operating on the highways with no lights on, driving in to oncoming traffic and failing to stop at stop signs and traffic lights.

“This total disregard for the safety of others is concerning to us,” say’s S/Sgt. Steve Ettinger, District Commander, Enfield District RCMP. “We are hoping someone in the community will recognize these two individuals and provide their names to us so we can deal with their reckless behaviour.”

RCMP look to identify ATV riders

Armed Robbery in Elmsdale at Circle K

December 6, 2018, Elmsdale, Nova Scotia…Enfield RCMP is asking for help identifying a man who robbed a convenience store in Elmsdale on December 4.

The robbery took place at approximately 11 p.m. on Hwy 214. Upon arriving on site, police confirmed that the suspect entered the store, pulled out a knife and demanded cash from an employee. The employee provided the suspect with approximately $120 and the suspect left. The suspect was last seen heading eastbound out of the store on foot toward Hwy 2.  Nobody was injured as a result of this incident.

The suspect is a white man with a slim build, approximately six feet tall, with a short, dark goatee. He was wearing dark pants, light brown work boots and a black jacket with the hood up.

RCMP seek assistance in locating stolen medals

December 5, 2018, Blockhouse, Nova Scotia … Lunenburg County District RCMP is investigating a theft that occurred from a vehicle parked at a residence on Cornwall Rd. in Blockhouse on November 14. Several items were taken, including 4 service medals, a camouflage ruck sack, trench spade shovel, camouflage carrying pouch, camouflage vest, two sleeping bags, tactical helmet and knee high winter boots. The following day, a passing motorist noticed a number of items strewn about in the ditch not far from the scene. All items except 4 service medals and a knife were recovered.

The medals are described as New Zealand Operational Service Medal, New Zealand Afghanistan Primary Medal, New Zealand Special Service Medal, New Zealand Defence Medal with Regular Clasp.

RCMP requesting assistance to identify road rage victim

December 3, 2018, Elmsdale, Nova Scotia . . . A suspected road rage incident that occurred on November 29 has resulted in the RCMP asking the public for assistance to identify the victim.

At 1:41 p.m. on November 29, RCMP were contacted via 911 by a witness who saw a man get out of his truck, climb the steps to a transport truck and punch the driver. This incident occurred on Hwy. 214 in Elmsdale, and traffic in the area was heavy due to Hwy. 102 being closed, and traffic being detoured through the Elmsdale area. The witness followed the driver to a bank nearby and noted signs of impairment. He noted the licence plate and vehicle description and passed this information to police. RCMP were able to use the information to identify the driver.

The victim of this incident did not report it to the police. RCMP are reaching out to the public, requesting the driver of the transport truck who was the victim of the assault come forward. RCMP are also interested in speaking with anyone else who saw the incident.

Police investigate an attempted home invasion in Dartmouth

Members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating an attempted home invasion which occurred Monday evening in Dartmouth.

On December 3, 2018 at approximately 9:57 p.m., police received a report of possible gunshots in the area of Galaxy Ave. in Dartmouth.  Police located a 38 year old male victim who reported unknown suspect(s) had come to his apartment door and attempted to force it open.  They did not gain entry however a short time later he heard gunshots and his apartment window was smashed by an apparent gun shot.  The victim did not sustain any injuries.  Police also located a vehicle which appeared to have windows damaged by gun fire.

At this time the investigation is in its preliminary stages and more information will be released when it’s available.

Police continue to investigate the death of Rachelle Valade

Today will mark the tenth anniversary of the death of Rachelle Valade, and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is asking for the public’s assistance in providing any information in relation to her death.

On December 3, 2008, thirty-five-year-old Rachelle Valade was walking through the parking lot of 6 Primrose Street in Dartmouth at about 9 p.m. A tractor trailer cab that had been parked in the lot struck Rachelle as it pulled away. The truck continued out of the lot onto Primrose Street and turned right onto Victoria Road. It remains unknown whether the driver realized the truck had struck Rachelle.

The truck was described by witnesses as a white tractor trailer cab with chrome “moose bars” (a protective grill) on the front. Investigators received a number of tips from the public, however, they have yet to locate/identify the driver or the truck involved in the collision.

Investigators believe there are people who have information in relation to Rachelle’s death, and hope that the passage of time may encourage someone to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. It is never too late and no piece of information is too small, it could be just what is needed to advance the investigation.

On August 17th 2018 , 2 masked males wearing camouflage clothing entered a home in Pictou with the male resident inside. The lone occupant was not injured and the males left with $500 cash and an undetermined amount of medical marijuana.

At approx. 6:31pm Halifax Regional Police responded to a Robbery at Personal Tailoring, 6251 Quinpool Road, Halifax. A male entered the business, he had a knife and demanded cash from the employee that was working.  Male suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, there were no injuries. Suspect described as male, approx. 5’7”, handkerchief covering his face, wearing a hat, jeans, dark grey sweater.

RCMP seek public assistance

November 30, 2018, East Ship Harbour, Nova Scotia … Halifax District RCMP is investigating after a resident who lives on Highway 7 in East Ship Harbour found cut up sausage laced with broken glass scattered around their backyard where their dogs frequent. The incident took place between November 27 and 28.
