Police looking to identify Halifax stabbing suspects

On February 9th at 1:23 am Halifax Regional Police received a call of three males beating up another male in a parking lot in the 10-20 block of Plateau Cres, Halifax.

At 1:32 am a call was received of a male in the 10-20 block of Braeside Crt, Halifax that had been stabbed.

When officers arrived they discovered a 20 year old man that had been stabbed.    It is believed that both incidents are related.  The man was taken to the QEII and is being treated for an injury that is not life threatening.  Patrol and K-9 members searched the area and were not able to locate the suspects.  The only description available is that the suspect were white males.  The incident is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call police at 902-490-5020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477). Police request assistance to identify suspect after shots fired in Cole Harbour

February 7, 2019, Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia…The General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is requesting public assistance to identify a suspect after shots were fired in Cole Harbour yesterday.

At approximately 5 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to calls regarding gunshots in Cole Harbour. The investigation revealed that two vehicles were seen travelling at a high rate of speed on Circassion Dr. One vehicle, described as gold, beige or brown car with tinted windows, had a suspect in the passenger’s seat. The suspect, who is described as a Black male with a light complexion was seen firing a rifle at a white or silver 4-door car. A description of the driver is not available.

No injuries or property damage have been reported in relation to this incident. The investigation is ongoing and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section is assisting.

Police request assistance identifying suspect in break and enter to residence

February 7, 2019, Elmsdale, Nova Scotia…Police are requesting help from the public to solve a break and enter to a home in Elmsdale on February 5.

At approximately 12:40 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a 911 call advising that they had arrived at a home on Hescott St. to find someone unlawfully in the residence. The suspect was physically forced out of the front door of the residence and ran north on Hescott St. The caller did not notice the suspect carrying any weapons and no one else was in the residence at the time.

The suspect is described as a thin white man in his mid-twenties with blond hair. He is approximately 6 feet and was wearing dark jeans and a black zip-up hoodie.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police request assistance to solve break and enter, theft of lobster

February 6, 2019, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia…Police are requesting help from the public to solve a break and enter and theft of lobster from a boat at a business on Bluenose Dr. in Lunenburg.

Sometime between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on January 26, two suspects entered a boat alongside the dock at the business and stole approximately 130 pounds of lobster worth $1,000.

Security footage shows the suspects to be two white men, both approximately 5-foot-10. One suspect appears to be clean shaven and slender with short brown hair. He was wearing a black hoodie, light grey pants and knee high black or dark green boots. The other suspect appears to have a medium to heavy build and was wearing a single piece navy blue coverall type of work suit. A dark blue or black 2-door Jeep Wrangler was seen in the area at the time of the theft.

The investigation is ongoing.

Theft of Copper Wire, Lower Sackville

Halifax District RCMP investigates thefts of copper wire 

January 29, 2019, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia . . . Halifax District RCMP is investigating three recent thefts of copper wire from Nova Scotia Power sub-stations in Lower Sackville and Middle Sackville. The thefts occurred between December 26 and January 28, and each time a hole was cut in the fence, the premises was entered, and copper wire was cut and removed.

Nova Scotia Power prohibits public access to its sub-stations and other facilities that contain high voltage electrical equipment due to the high risk to personal and public safety. Anyone who unlawfully enters these premises is risking severe injuries to themselves and significant damage to onsite equipment.

The RCMP would like anyone who has information about these thefts to contact them – whether the information is about the thefts or if the wire is being re-sold. Police seek assistance in returning unique pendant

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in returning a unique pendant to its rightful owner. 

On August 19, 2018 officers attended an apartment building in the 0-100 block of Old Sambro Road in Halifax to take custody of a small stainless-steel pendant that had been found outside the building. The pendant has detailed engravings on the front and may be a piece of memorial cremation jewelry. 

We recognize that this pendant may have sentimental value and we would like to return it to its owner. Anyone with information on the pendant is asked to call police at 902-490-5020. Hit & Run, Halifax

Police are investigating a failing to remain at an accident scene motor vehicle incident involving a pedestrian.

At 6:00 pm Halifax Regional Police responded to the Halifax Armdale Rotary to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.  Witnesses described the vehicle slowed down after striking the pedestrian but then fled the scene. The pedestrian was crossing Chebucto Road in a marked crosswalk heading northbound when he was struck by the eastbound vehicle.  The vehicle fled eastbound along Chebucto Road.  The pedestrian, a 34 year old male, was thrown a distance from the crosswalk and sustained minor injuries.  He was later transported to the QE II for further observation.

The suspect vehicle is described as a small bright red 2-door hatchback with a white male driver and white male front passenger. The vehicle likely sustained damages to the engine bonnet as the pedestrian made contact and rolled off.

The incident remains under investigation.

Medical alert device used to report break and enter

January 28, 2019, Little River, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia . . . An 83-year-old woman was in her home on December 9, 2018, when she heard a loud bang shortly before 2 a.m. She then heard people going to the basement of her home, then towards her bedroom. She called out to see who it was, then heard male voices yelling “go, go, go”, and heard multiple people running from her home. The woman was not able to see the numbers on the phone and used her medical alert device to call for help.

Police arrived a short time later and noted that a vehicle had entered several driveways and backed out again. A break and enter was reported in the area later that day.

Arson, Hammonds Plains

January 28, 2019, Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is investigating an arson that occurred on Blue Forest Lane in Hammonds Plains.

At 5:20 a.m. yesterday, RCMP and Halifax Fire responded to the scene of a vehicle that was on fire. The investigation determined the fire to be suspicious in nature and was started by an incendiary device. The vehicle, a 2014 grey Acura TL, was stolen from the Mulgrave park area of Halifax.

No one was injured as a result of the fire and the investigation is ongoing.

Robbery, Dartmouth

Police investigate robbery

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at a bank in Dartmouth this morning.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. officers were called to a robbery that had just occurred at the Bank of Montreal located at 254 Baker Drive in Dartmouth. The man entered the location, indicated to staff that he was there to rob the bank, and demanded money.  The man left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area.

The suspect is described as a heavy set black male with a band aid under his left eye and another on his right hand. The man has a full beard with an earring in his left ear.  He was wearing jeans, a dark gray Under Armor ball cap and a gray hooded sweatshirt
