April 19, 2019, New Salem, Nova Scotia… Cumberland RCMP is investigating an arson that occurred on South Branch Road in New Salem.

At 5:05 a.m. yesterday, RCMP and Advocate and District Volunteer Fire Brigade responded to the scene of a barn that was on fire. The investigation determined the fire to be suspicious in nature. No one was injured as a result of the fire and the investigation is ongoing.

Pictou County RCMP investigating break and enter

March 27, 2019, Pictou, Nova Scotia… Pictou County District RCMP is seeking assistance from the public regarding a break and enter which occurred at an unoccupied building, located on Patterson St. in Pictou.

On March 22, 2019 at approximately 10 a.m., Pictou County District RCMP attended a complaint of a break and enter to an unoccupied building on Patterson St. The suspect(s) made entry by breaking the glass on the rear doors and broke several other windows inside the building.

Indecent Act, Halifax

Police looking to identify suspect in indecent act

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man in relation to an indecent act that occurred in Halifax last night.

Police received a report that on March 24 at approximately 8 p.m. a man engaged a woman in conversation and appeared to be touching himself in a sexual manner.  Similar incidents were reported to police on March 1 and 19. The suspect description is similar for all three incidents and police are looking into whether the incidents are related.

The suspect is described as a man in his twenties with crooked teeth. At the time of last night’s incident, the man was wearing a black jacket and gray/blue sweatpants.

Weapons Complaint, Halifax

Police investigating a Weapons Complaint

At approx. 6:30pm Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons complaint of a gun shot in the area of Glebe St, Halifax. Two vehicles had pulled up beside each other, witness heard a gun shot and both vehicles sped away in opposite directions. One vehicle was located. Police are currently onscene, the investigation is in the preliminary stages.

Break & Enter, Berwick

Berwick, Nova Scotia . . . On February 11 at 3:11 a.m., Kings District RCMP responded to an alarm from a convenience store on Main St. in Berwick.

Two male suspects entered the store by smashing the front door. Both suspects are observed on surveillance video. The first man is wearing a black mask and toque, khaki pants, dark coat and black shoes with white trim. The second man is wearing a camouflage jacket and pants, black shoes and a black mask. The suspects took lottery tickets and cash from the business before fleeing the scene.

Kings District RCMP is investigating the matter and has released video of the incident to the public in effort to identify the men involved. Robbery, Dartmouth

Police Investigate Robbery

At approx. 2:25 am, Halifax Regional Police responded to the 200 block of Victoria Rd, Dartmouth for a Robbery. A taxi driver reported he was just robbed at gunpoint, and money was taken. The suspect is described as a white male, thin build, pock marked face, wearing a black hoodie. The suspect fled on foot. There were no injuries.

Graffiti left on Digby County church

February 12, 2019, Saint Alphonse, Digby County, Nova Scotia . . . Between 6 p.m. on February 8 and 8 a.m. on February 9, someone used a marker to write offensive words and draw offensive symbols on the door of a church basement. The church is located on Hwy. 1 in Saint Alphonse, Digby County.

Police checked with neighbours in the area and did not learn of any information that may help identify the person(s) responsible for the mischief. Alarm system thwarts break and enter

February 7, 2019, New Minas, Nova Scotia . . . At 12:45 a.m. on February 6, New Minas RCMP responded to a Break and Enter at a veterinary clinic on Commercial St. in New Minas. Surveillance footage shows a man wearing gloves and a dark coloured hoodie using a tool to pry the door open. The man entered the building, then ran from the scene and left the area in a vehicle, headed down Commercial St. Police suspect the very loud audible alarm in the building caused him to reconsider his intentions.

RCMP investigates first Beaverbank fire

Halifax District RCMP investigating suspicious fire

February 8, 2019, Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia…Halifax District RCMP is investigating a suspicious fire that happened on January 29 at a home on Glen Rise Dr. in Beaver Bank.

At approximately 12 p.m., police received a call of smoke coming from the residence. RCMP attended along with Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency. No one was inside the building at the time of the fire. The fire was extinguished quickly and significant damage was done to the building. The fire was determined to be suspicious in nature.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Halifax District RCMP with assistance from the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal.

RCMP investigating copper wire theft and property damage at Waverley substation

February 8, 2019, Waverley, Nova Scotia…Halifax District RCMP is investigating a break and enter causing property damage and the theft of copper wire from a Nova Scotia Power substation in Waverley.

Sometime between February 6 at 11 a.m. and February 7 at 8 a.m., the suspect(s) drove a large vehicle into the locked gate of a fence surrounding a substation on Waverley Rd. in Waverley. As a result, the gate was forced open and the fence was damaged. The suspect(s) then stole copper wire from several different areas, which would have taken some time to accomplish. The suspect(s) also broke into a trailer within the substation, where they stole an electric heater and slings for carrying tools. The combined theft, damage and human resource costs to re-install replacement copper wire is estimated to be approximately $5,000.

The investigation is ongoing.

Nova Scotia Power prohibits public access to its substations and other facilities that contain high voltage electrical equipment due to the high risk to personal and public safety. Anyone who unlawfully enters these premises is risking severe injuries to themselves and significant damage to onsite equipment.
