February 27, 2025, Pictou, Nova Scotia … The Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (PCISCEU) has charged three people as part of a drug trafficking investigation in Mountville.

On February 25, in relation to an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, the PCISCEU, assisted by RCMP Police Dog Services, the Stellarton Police Department, Pictou County District RCMP and the Antigonish/Guysborough County District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Mountville Rd.

At the home, two women and a man were safely arrested. During a search of the property, officers located seized license plates and cell phones.

As part of the investigation, officers then conducted a targeted traffic stop of a Honda Civic travelling nearby on Mountville Rd. Officers arrested the four occupants, a man and three women, and seized cocaine, methamphetamine, diazepam, drug paraphernalia, and cash during a search of the vehicle.

Justin Kenneth Coady, 42, John Gregory Gerrior, 34, and Katelyn Rose Kirk, 33, have been charged with:

• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Diazepam for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

The two women arrested at the home and two of the female occupants in the Honda were later released without charges.

Coady and Gerrior were released on conditions. They are scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on May 26, at 9:30 a.m.

Kirk was held in custody and released by the courts on conditions. She will also return in Pictou Provincial Court on May 26, at 9:30 a.m.

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred last night in Halifax.

At approximately 9:24 p.m. officers responded to a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Ultramar Gas Station located at 2816 Gottingen Street in Halifax.  A man entered the store, threatened staff and stole cigarettes and money. Staff member working at the time was not physically injured. The suspect fled on foot Westbound on Almon Street. 

The suspect is described as white man in his 30’s wearing a black jacket with a beige hooded sweatshirt, black pants and beige shoes. A black jacket belonging to the suspect was located on nearby Black Street, near Northwood Terrace.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a vehicle used by the suspect in the homicide of Uriah Black last week.

On Thursday, February 20, police responded to a fatal shooting on McFatridge Road in Halifax. Investigators have determined the suspect was driving a blue Honda CRV.   

Anyone who has information that could identify the vehicle, its owner, or its current location is asked to call 902-490-5020.  

Police also ask that anyone who has video from McFatridge Road and surrounding streets between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m. on February 20, call 902-490-5020 if they haven’t already.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a motor vehicle theft that occurred last month in Dartmouth.

On January 17, police responded to a report of a vehicle theft from the driveway of a residence on Saint Clair Avenue in Dartmouth. The theft is believed to have occurred between 11:30 p.m. the night before, and 7:45 a.m. The vehicle has since been recovered.

Through the course of the investigation, officers obtained video of the suspect. The suspect is described as a man in his late twenties, approximately 140 lbs., 6’ tall, brown hair, a beard, and brown eyes (photos attached).

February 22, 2025, Salt Springs, Nova Scotia… Pictou County District RCMP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Salt Springs.

On February 20, at approximately 3:45 p.m., RCMP officers, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of an overturned vehicle in the river under Hwy. 104 near West River East Side Rd.

Responders located a Dodge Grand Caravan on its roof with two injured people inside. Fire services recovered the driver, a 75-year-old man, and the passenger, a 73-year-old woman, both of Cheticamp.

The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital via EHS LifeFlight.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing and is being assisted by the Nova Scotia RCMP Collision and Reconstruction Service team.

A child is in hospital after being stabbed in downtown Halifax on Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., police responded to the 1900 block of Barrington Street where a 6-year-old child was found suffering from multiple stab wounds. The child was taken by ambulance to the IWK with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, a 19-year-old woman, was located at the scene and arrested for aggravated assault. The victim and the suspect are not believed to be known to each other.

The investigation is being led by the Integrated Criminal Investigative Division. Anyone who may have video from the area around the time of the incident is asked to call 902-490-5020.

Four men have been charged in relation to a travelling home repair scam.  

On January 6, officers responded to a report of a home repair fraud in progress in Halifax. Police also received similar reports of home repair scams, not in progress, from November 27, 2024, to January 15, 2025. 

A group of men were canvassing door-to-door throughout the municipality posing as a chimney and masonry company, using different fictitious company names:

Rideau Masonry and Roofing

The scammers convinced victims, most of whom were seniors, to allow them to inspect their roofs and chimneys at which time they would identify required repairs to their homes. The suspects would obtain a large cash payment for the project. The crew would not return to the complete the agreed upon job, or they would conduct subpar work leaving the victim with a damaged or partially completed project. 

On February 12, a search warrant was conducted at a residence on Hazelhurst Street in Dartmouth where four men were located and arrested for fraud.

On February 13, a search warrant was conducted at a residence on Battery Drive in Halifax where officers seized documents that lead them to believe the suspects were in the process of opening a new fraudulent business.

Four men will appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date:

• Luke Charles, 23, has been charged with fraud under $5000 and obstruct a peace officer.
• Patrick Cash, 38, has been charged with fraud under $5000 and obstruct a peace officer.
• Adam Lee Scott, 27, has been charged with fraud under $5000.
• Dan Thomas Doran, 18, has been charged with fraud under $5000.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Today marks the fourth anniversary of the homicide of Joseph Beals.

On February 20, 2021, at approximately 2:10 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to reports of a single vehicle crash into a utility pole at the intersection of Mount Edward Road and Cranberry Crescent in Dartmouth. The driver, Joseph Beals, had suffered gun shot wounds. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where he died. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and ruled the death a homicide.

The Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

Investigators believe there are people who could help solve Joseph’s homicide. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police at 902-490-5020; even the smallest piece of information could progress the investigation.

Joseph’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes.
