February 2, 2021, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia… Halifax District RCMP is asking for the public’s help to locate three suspects involved in an armed robbery in Lower Sackville.

At approximately 10:50 p.m. on January 31, RCMP responded to a 911 call of an armed robbery at a convenience store on Sackville Dr. When police arrived, they confirmed three men had entered the store. One pointed a firearm at the employee and tied the employee up. The suspects stole a significant quantity of cigarettes before fleeing in a tan or beige colored truck, believed to be a Dodge Ram. No one was physically injured.

The three suspects are described as:

Suspect 1 – white male, approximately 6 feet tall, medium build and mid-to-late twenties. He was carrying a firearm and wearing a black hoodie, a black jacket, a black neck gaiter face mask and a black ball cap.

Suspect 2 – black male, approximately 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, medium build and mid-to-late twenties. He was wearing a black jacket, a black neck gaiter face mask and a black toque.

Suspect 3 – black male wearing dark clothing.

The investigation is ongoing and led by the Integrated RCMP/HRP Criminal Investigation Division.

Police investigate break and enter at a church

Police are investigating a break and enter that occurred at church in Bedford this week.

On January 27, police received a report of a break and enter into a church at 1200 Bedford Highway that had occurred sometime between the evening of January 26 and the early morning of January 27. The suspect(s) stole a number of items from the church including collection plates and a cross. Church officials also reported that a Black Lives Matter banner had been vandalized.

The investigation by members of the General Investigation Section of Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is in the early stages and at this point, we can’t speculate on the motive. Investigators are looking into whether both incidents are connected.

Police investigate break and enter where firearm was stolen

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a break and enter in Halifax where a firearm was stolen.

Yesterday, police received a report of a break and enter at a residence on Carlina Court in Halifax. Sometime between January 26 or 27 the suspect(s) broke in to the home and took a number of items including a safe, a handgun, ammunition, jewelry and expensive sneakers.

Police continue to investigate shots fired

Halifax Regional Police are investigating shots fired between vehicles in Dartmouth earlier this month.

On January 16 at approximately 2:10 p.m. police received a report of shots fired between two vehicles travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 111 toward Halifax near Burnside. The vehicles pulled alongside each, a handgun was pointed out of the driver’s window of the vehicle on the right and shots were fired, striking the vehicle on the left. Both vehicles were last seen on the MacKay Bridge travelling into Halifax.

The two vehicles are described as small black four door sedans, late 1990s to early 2000s models. It is believed that the vehicle being shot at would have damage to the rear passenger side of the vehicle.

There are no reported injuries at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

Police investigate incident of shots fired

January 27, 2021, North Preston, Nova Scotia…. On January 27, Halifax District RCMP received several reports of shots fired in the community of North Preston.

At approximately 0055 hrs., Halifax District RCMP responded to reports of shots fired in the community of North Preston.

RCMP are presently conducting an active operation in the North Preston area as it is an unfolding event. The public will notice an increased police presence in the area.

Police are asking the residents to remain in their residences until further notice. It is also requested that the public stay away from the area until further notice.

Police request public’s assistance with theft investigation

Halifax Regional Police is asking for the public’s assistance identifying two suspects in relation to the theft of a commercial cooling unit that occurred last fall in Dartmouth.

At approximately 10:50 a.m. on October 4, 2020 an air-cooled chiller was stolen from the Nova Scotia Community College Ivany Campus at 80 Mawiomi Place in Dartmouth.

The unit is described as a Trane 10-ton air-cooled chiller, pale green-gray, 550 lbs. and approximately 53” long, 40” wide and 43” high.

The two male suspects were driving a black Ford pickup truck with red markings that was towing what appears to be a wooden trailer.

Investigators are releasing a photo of the suspects and the truck. Anyone with information about the identity of the suspects or the incident is asked to contact police at 902-490-5016. Help RCMP identify suspect in “quick change” scam

January 19, 2021, Kings County, Nova Scotia…Kings District RCMP are asking the public for help identifying a man who has been using a “quick change” scam on cashiers at businesses in Kings County.

A “quick change scam” is when a scammer buys an inexpensive item and pays for it with a large bill (for example, buying something that costs five dollars and paying for it with a fifty-dollar-bill). As the cashier is making change, the scammer tries to confuse the cashier by asking to exchange the bills of smaller denominations for larger ones (for example, asking for ten dollar bill as change instead of two five dollar bills). As a result of the various requests, the cashier ends up giving too much change to the suspect.

Kings District RCMP are investigating several of these incidents on January 1, January 14 and January 15:

·         on January 1 at approximately 8:10 p.m. at a gas bar on Main St. in Kingston

·         on January 14 at approximately 3 p.m. at a restaurant on Central Ave. in Greenwood

·         on January 15 at a restaurant on Commercial St. in New Minas.  

Surveillance video shows what appears to be a male suspect. On January 1, he is seen in security footage wearing dark denim jeans, a black hoody, black jacket and black shoes with white soles. On January 15, he was seen wearing a black non-medical mask, black hat, black jacket, and black shoes with white soles. He has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Police investigate 2 consecutive commercial Break and Enters.

Halifax Regional Police are investigating two overnight break and enters that occurred early this morning in downtown Halifax.

At 2:55 A.M. police responded to a commercial intrusion alarm at Boston Pizza, 1858 Granville Street in Halifax. Entry was gained via the entry door to the business by smashing the door’s glass panel. A cash register and other items were stolen from the location.

Soon after at 3:05 A.M., a 2^nd commercial intrusion alarm was activated at the Creamy Rainbow, 104-1526 Dresden Row in Halifax. Again, entry was gained by smashing the front door’s glass panel and cash register taken.

The suspect is described as and believed to be the same person in both matters as a white man, approximately 30 years old with short brown hair, glasses, black jacket with white hoodie underneath, black pants and black sneakers with white soles.

January 4, 2021, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia… The Integrated RCMP/HRP General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division is asking for the public’s help to solve a robbery that occurred on December 31 in Lower Sackville

At approximately 5 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a complaint of an armed robbery at a convenience store in the 800 block of Sackville Dr.

The suspect entered the convenience store, produces a knife and then demanded cash from the employee. The suspect is described as a white male wearing a black jacket with yellow reflective stripes. The suspect fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured as a result of this incident.
