Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth last night.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. police responded to a report of a robbery near 60 Tacoma Drive. A man had been walking in the area and was knocked down by two men who were not known to him. The men took a quantity of cash from the victim and fled the area on foot.

One of the suspects is described as a white man who was wearing a blue shirt and blue pants at the time of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or anyone with video from the area to call 902-490-5016. Police are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred in Halifax last night.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. police responded to a report of a vehicle on fire in a parking lot on Evans Avenue. Two vehicles were damaged in the fire and there were no reported injuries.

Today marks the fifth anniversary of the murder of Rickey Walker, and the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

At approximately 2:50 a.m. on September 1, 2016, 48-year-old Rickey Walker was located in medical distress behind John McNeil Elementary School at 62 Leaman Drive in Dartmouth. He was subsequently transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators believe there are people who have information that could help solve Rickey’s murder and we hope that the passage of time encourages them to do the right thing and share what they know with police. It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation into Rickey’s murder.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a suspicious circumstance call last week in Halifax.

On August 26 at approximately 12:30 p.m. a man approached a 15-year-old youth who was walking in the area of Glenora and McLennan avenues in Halifax. The man asked the youth to get in his vehicle and the youth refused and walked away to a safe location.

The man is described as a white, in his forties with gray hair. He was wearing a white tank top and glasses and no further clothing description was available. The man’s vehicle was described as a black pickup truck.

Police are looking to speak with the man or anyone who may have information in relation to this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 902-490-5020. UPDATE: RCMP arrest suspect in relation to suspicious death in New Haven

September 1, 2021, New Haven, Nova Scotia…The RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit with assistance from the Victoria County District RCMP is now investigating the death of a 77-year-old New Haven man as a homicide. RCMP members have arrested a suspect who remains in custody.

At approximately 9:05 p.m. yesterday evening, Ingonish Beach RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death at a residence on New Haven Rd. in New Haven. The RCMP are currently investigating the death as a homicide and arrested a suspect earlier this afternoon.

The investigation is continuing and charges are anticipated. Further information will be released as it becomes available.

The investigation is being supported by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office, RCMP Forensic Identification Services and Victoria County District RCMP. August 30, 2021, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia… RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect who escaped custody in relation to a federal investigation led out of Quebec RCMP.

Earlier this morning, Quebec RCMP arrested a 32-year-old man identified as Karin Marley Simons. Simons was taken to Dartmouth General Hospital for assessment where he escaped from police custody.

Simons is described as a black man, 5-foot-9, 160 pounds with black hair in dreadlocks and dark brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black shorts and was barefoot.

Tomorrow marks the 22nd anniversary of the murder of Jason MacCullough and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

Jason, 19, was found deceased on a paved path between 100 and 104 Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 1999.

Investigators believe Jason was passing through the area while walking home and used the well-known short-cut between the buildings. There is no indication that Jason was involved in any type of criminal activity, leading

investigators to believe his death was a random act.

Investigators believe there were several people in the area at the time of the homicide and strongly believe there were witnesses to the crime. Police continue to urge these people to come forward and share anything that they remember about this day, no matter how small the detail.

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a robbery that occurred today in Dartmouth.

At approximately 11:24 a.m. police received a report of a robbery at Hugo’s Bar & Grill located at 451 Windmill Road. Two men entered the restaurant, demanded money and produced a weapon. There were no injuries reported.

At approximately 12:18 p.m. officers arrested two men in the area of Albro Lake Road. Police remain on scene and the investigation is ongoing.

August 27, 2021, Brooklyn, Nova Scotia…Yarmouth Rural RCMP is investigating after an attempted robbery on Hardscratch Rd. in Brooklyn.

On August 23, at approximately 11 p.m., police responded to a complaint of an attempted robbery on Hardscratch Rd. between Tinkham Rd. and the Yarmouth County Landfill. The incident occurred earlier in the evening, around 6 p.m.

A man had been travelling on the Hardscratch Rd. when he observed a car stopped on the side of the road. A woman near the car flagged him down. When the victim exited his vehicle, he was rushed by two men who came out of the ditch and attacked him. One of the men was armed with a weapon during the attack. The victim’s dog attacked the man with the weapon and the suspects fled in their own vehicle.

The suspect vehicle is described as a small older grey car. The woman was thin with brown curly hair and sunglasses. One of the male suspects had heavily tattooed arms and at least one heavily tattooed leg.

The Hardscratch Rd. is heavily travelled and anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Yarmouth Rural RCMP Detachment at 902-742-9106. August 27, 2021, Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia…Barrington RCMP is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a bank on Hwy. 3 in Barrington Passage.

On August 26 at approximately 11:50 a.m., police responded to a report of an armed robbery at a bank on Hwy. 3. Police learned that a man had entered the bank and advised bank employees that he had a weapon. The man was given money and he then left the bank on foot. No one was injured during this incident.

The man is described as mixed race and was wearing a black sweatshirt at the time of the incident.

The investigation is being led by the Barrington RCMP with assistance from the Shelburne County Street Crime Enforcement Unit, Yarmouth/Clare Street Crime Enforcement Unit and Yarmouth RCMP General Investigation Section.
