November 2, 2023, Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia…Inverness County District RCMP is investigating the theft of firearms from a home on Crandall Rd. in Port Hawkesbury.
On October 20, 2023, Inverness County District RCMP responded to a report of a break-in to a home on Crandall Rd. in Port Hawkesbury. RCMP officers learned that the during the break-in, one rifle, two revolvers and a pistol, were stolen from the home. RCMP Forensic Identification Services are engaged and assisting with the investigation.

November 1, 2023, Pine Grove, Nova Scotia…Today marks 3 years since the homicide of Donnie Lohnes.
On October 25, 2020, 57-year-old Donald (Donnie) Derrick Lohnes was attacked near a home on Jippie Ave. in Pine Grove. Donnie suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance.
On November 1, Donnie died from the injuries he sustained during the attack. His death was determined to be a homicide.
RCMP investigators continue to ask the public for information to assist in solving this crime. Donnie’s case has been added to the Nova Scotia Reward for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which offers up to $150,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in certain cases. The Provincial Rewards line is 1-888-710-9090.

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth.
At approximately 7:10 p.m. on October 31st, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Needs located at 100 Highfield Park Drive. A man entered the store and demanded money and cigarettes from the clerk, the employee was not injured.
The suspect is described as a white man, wearing a black hoodie with white lettering, dark blue/navy pants with red print on right leg, white sneakers and a white and black bandana covering his face.

Just before 4:00 a.m. on October 31st, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Irving located at 10 Highfield Park Drive. A man entered the store and demanded the clerk turn over the cigarettes, the employee was not injured. The suspect is described as a white man, 5’6” in height, wearing all black clothing, black goatee, and a facial tattoo. Today marks the 35th anniversary of the murder of Donald Charles Downey and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.
On October 30, 1988, at approximately 1 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting near the 2300 block of Creighton Street in Halifax. Officers located Donald suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Investigators believe there are people who have information that could advance the investigation and hope the passage of time may encourage someone to do the right thing and come forward to police with what they know.

On October 27th, 2023, Cumberland County RCMP received a complainant of a stolen trailer. A representative of the Miller Group reported an enclosed, dual axle trailer, with Miller Group markings, was stolen overnight, from their storage site in Salt Springs, NS.
The 2006 trailer, pictured below, bears New Brunswick marker TJO194, and is registered to Miller Paving Limited. The trailer additionally is marked with asset number 9930701, in black lettering, on the rear, barn doors.

October 29, 2023, Halifax, Nova Scotia…Halifax District RCMP is asking the public for assistance to help identify the driver of a blue Toyota Echo involved in a hit-and-run collision on Hwy. 102 near Miller Lake on October 28.
Shortly after, at approximately 9:25 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a head-on collision on Hwy 102 near Miller Lake. The blue Toyota Echo was observed driving outbound in the inbound lanes when it collided with a Jeep Wrangler. The driver of the Toyota Echo then fled into the woods. Officers believe the driver may have been impaired.
The driver of the Jeep Wrangler, a 38-year-old woman, and one passenger, a 33-year-old woman, both of Truro, had minor injuries. The third occupant, a 60-year-old woman from Bible Hill had serious injuries.
Hwy 102 inbound near Miller Lake was closed for several hours to allow for a Collision Analyst and Reconstructionist to examine the scene. Officers with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) searched for the driver but were unable to locate them. Fire, EHS and the Department of Transportation assisted RCMP members at the scene and with first aid and traffic control.
The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 9:10 a.m., Halifax District RCMP received a report of a blue Toyota Echo, Nova Scotia licence plate GYT158, that was travelling at an excessive speed and went through a red light on Windmill Rd. in Dartmouth. At approximately 9:20 a.m., officers received a second report that the same vehicle was travelling outbound in the inbound lanes on Hwy 118.
Shortly after, at approximately 9:25 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a head-on collision on Hwy 102 near Miller Lake. October 27, 2023, Debert, Nova Scotia…Colchester County District RCMP is investigating an incident where multiple cats were killed in the Debert area.
On October 24, 2023, Colchester County District RCMP responded to a report of three cats being found deceased at locations near a property on Hunters Glen in Debert. RCMP officers learned that the three cats had gone missing between October 15 and 17. A firearm is believed to have been used in the deaths of the cats.

On October 25th 2023 Yarmouth RCMP received a call of a B&E at a local car garage (Downtown Service Centre). It was realized a 2012 Silver Chevy SONIC was stolen from the garage along with various tools, a laptop. The theft occurred at 00:52hrs October 25th 2023. Lone suspect in vehicle at time of B&E.
