Just before 7 a.m. on Sunday a resident in the 100 block of Caledonia Road reported to HRP she had awoken to find bullet holes in a basement window of her residence. They were fresh from overnight. Responding members learned the residence had been occupied all night but nobody inside heard shots. Nobody was injured as a result of the incident.

It is believed to have occurred sometime after 10:30 p.m. The HRP Forensic Identification Unit was called out to process the scene and the matter will be investigated by the Integrated General Investigative Section. Go 17-167760

On Sept. 15th there was a reported Break and Enter (not in progress) to a residence at 1126 Caribou Rd. in Caribou Mines This occurred sometime between Sept. 14th and Sept. 15th .

Arson

At approximately 6:00pm, staff at the Superstore, located at 3601 Joseph Howe Drive, were made aware of a small fire in a grocery aisle inside the store. HRM Fire arrived and quickly extinguished the fire while the store was being evacuated. Fire officials determined that the fire appeared to have been intentionally set and was determined to be an Arson. Subsequent investigation by Halifax Regional Police identified an individual who may have been responsible.

The suspect is described as a white male, late 40’s or early 50’s, grey hair with goatee. He was wearing eyeglasses with thick rims, a blue puffy style waist length coat, jeans and a blue ball cap.

Attempted Robbery

Just after 1AM a 24 year old female was walking in the area on Duncan Street near Chebucto Road in Halifax when she was approached by a male who pulled a handgun out of his pocket and demanded money. The victim did not have any money and the suspect left the area. The victim was not injured. The area was checked by numerous units including K-9. There is no one in custody at this time. The matter remains under investigation. The suspect is described as an Asian male, 6′ tall, average build, approximately 22 years of age wearing a black hoodie, dark pants and a doctor’s mask.

Robbery

Shortly after midnight a 21 year old male was cutting through a path behind TUNS off Barrington Street in Halifax. He was approached by three males who demanded his cell phone and money. One of the suspects stated he had a knife but none was seen. The victim yelled for help and ran from the area. The victim was not injured. Only description of the suspects was that they were white males. The matter is still under investigation.

Arson

Just prior to midnight HRP officers were dispatched to assist Halifax Regional Fire in relation to a working fire in an apartment at 66 Highfield Park Drive in Dartmouth. The residents of the building had to be evacuated but no one was injured. Fire was able to determine that the fire was deliberately set. Police currently do not have anyone in custody. The matter remains under investigation.

Child Abandonment

Between 4:00 and 5:00 on 29 October 2017, Halifax Regional Police received a complaint of an abandoned infant found in the 6000 block ‎of Quinpool Rd.

Department of Child Services attended the hospital, at which time, they took custody of the baby.

The baby was described as being of African Canadian descent and approximately 4-5 weeks old. Investigation is still ongoing.

Theft Enfield NS

Sometime between Oct 21st and Oct 22nd, 2017, a 2008 Polaris Ranger RZR side x side and a 1997 Scott double-wide snowmobile trailer were stolen from a residence in the Elmsdale, NS. A 2008 Polaris Ranger RZR – NSL: HW828 – VIN# 4XAVH76A08D3317761997. The Scott snowmobile trailer – NSL: T412226 – VIN #2S95A2G15U1018847

Shots Fires, Millbrook, NS

On October 25, 2017, at Millbrook, Nova Scotia … Shortly after 1 a.m. Millbrook RCMP, Colchester District RCMP and Truro Police Services, responded to a complaint of gunshots fired at a residence on Coach Rd. in Millbrook.

Inside the home at the time were four adults and an infant. No one was injured. The front door of the home sustained damage.

RCMP Police Dog Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Section assisted with the investigation.

Theft of Building Panels

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in solving a case of theft from a property in Mushaboom, NS.

Sometime between August 1st and 26th, 2017 a theft of 43 green metal building panels ( 14’x3.5′) were stolen from a property in Mushaboom, NS. The panels are 1/2 inch thick and have yellow foam insulation inside.

Suspects are believed have used a white Ford truck and a dark Ford truck to remove panels.
