Robbery

On August 11, 2020 at 00:02 the suspect male entered the Irving Gas Station 6515 Quinpool Rd and demanded cash.  The suspect produced a knife and made off with money from the till. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect described is described as a white male wearing all black and a black mask.  5’8” slim build, about 40yrs old with a scar on his face.

August 9, 2020 (2:55 a.m.)

At 12:40 a.m., Halifax Regional Police were dispatched to 1960 Brunswick Street, Halifax, the Hampton Inn and Suites, for a robbery in progress. Suspect threatened staff with a large edged weapon during the commission of the offence. No injuries.

Suspect described as a white male, medium build, 5’4”-5’6” in height, 40-50 years old, wearing a black sweater with white lettering on the front, blue hoodie underneath w/ hood up, black knee-length shorts w/ Nike logo, black sneakers, black face mask and gloves. Suspect took cash from the drawer. Suspect last seen leaving in a dark-colored vehicle. Last direction of travel southbound on Brunswick Street.

Multiple police units, with the assistance of members from the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, are actively searching for the suspect at this time.

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a robbery that occurred this morning in Halifax.

At 6:40 a.m. on August 9, 2020, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Esso Service Station located at 7151 Chebucto Road, Halifax. A lone male suspect entered the Service Station and threatened the lone male employee with a knife during the commission of the offense. The male employee was not injured. The suspect left the Service Station with cigarettes and the till draw which contained an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect placed the stolen items in a box he was carrying.  The suspect got into the passenger side of a Black 4dr Ford Focus and the vehicle left the parking lot in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a white male, 40-50 yrs old, gray hair, 5’5” in height, heavy set, 165-175lbs. He was wearing a grey hoodie with the hood pulled up over his head, black mask, black sunglasses, blue shorts with black stripes and a white Nike logo, black high top sneakers and white socks.

The driver of the suspect vehicle is described as a white male, with a beard, younger then the suspect who committed the robbery and wearing a dark ball cap.

Multiple police units attended the scene and are actively looking for the suspects at this time. The investigation has been assigned to the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.

Police continue to investigate the murder of Jonathan Reader

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the murder of Jonathan Reader and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

On August 7, 2005 at 4:10 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Radcliffe Drive and Dunbrack Street and found 19-year-old Jonathan Reader unconscious in the roadway. He was transported to hospital where he died a short time later from his injuries. The autopsy determined that Jonathan was the victim of a homicide inflicted by blunt force trauma and investigators believe the incident occurred at the location where he was found.

Investigators determined that Jonathan had been in downtown Halifax at the Pacifico Bar and Grill with some friends and left at approximately 1:57 a.m. in the company of a woman. Jonathan was last seen at approximately 3:20 a.m. walking alone on Dutch Village Road in the direction of Lacewood Drive in Halifax.

Investigators believe there are people who have information that could help solve Jonathan’s murder and we hope that the passage of time will encourage them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.

The amount of the award will be based on the investigative value of the information provided.

On August 7^th, 2020  at approximately 4:24 a.m.  police were called to an armed robbery that had just occurred in the 2800 block of Gottingen Street, Halifax.  A lone male suspect with his face covered, entered the business with a knife and obtained cigarettes as well as the cash register, the clerk was not injured. The suspect is described as a White Male in his early 30’s, heavy set, @5’5”, wearing a black hoodie, black face mask, black shorts, and sandals.  

Patrol officers along with K9 searched for the suspect. The dog was able to track the suspect briefly to the area of Gottingen Street and Bilby Street. Police are still on scene at the time of this release.
