Police continue to investigate the murders of Gail Stone and Richard Marriott

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the murders of Gail Stone and Richard Marriott and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

On November 20, 1998, at approximately 9:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting at 15 Parkmoor Avenue in Halifax. Upon arrival, officers found both Gail Stone and Richard Mariott inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds. Richard was deceased and Gail was transported to hospital where she died four days later.

Richard was last seen at approximately 9:15 p.m. driving a maroon-coloured Dodge Caravan on Dutch Village Road. It is believed he arrived home at approximately 9:30 p.m.

It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation. Anyone with information about Richard and Gail’s murders is asked to call police at 902-490-5020.

The case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes. Callers must contact the Rewards Program at 1-888-710-9090, must provide their name and contact information, and may be called to testify in court. All calls will be recorded. The amount of the award will be based on the investigative value of the information provided.
