Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in solving a break, enter and theft of a large number of tools worth thousands dollars were taken from a new home construction site. During the evening/night hours of January 18th unknown suspects entered a residence being constructed on the Sylvester Road in Durham, NS.
A trailer located next to the residence was entered when two of the three locks were broken by twisting the shackle of the lock until it snapped. Numerous tools from inside the trailer were taken, including:
- spiker, Bostich, orange, $600, spiker, Haussman, black, $400, rafter nailer, Prime, black, $450, three drills, cordless, Dewalt, yellow and black, $150 each
- three skill saws, Dewalt, yellow and black, $150 each, three hose reels and air compressor hoses, 100 feet in length each, $100 each
- reciprocating saw, Porter Cable, grey and black, cordless, $150, 24 foot extension ladder, aluminum, $400, 32 foot extension ladder, aluminum, $500
- cap nailer, Bostich, orange and black, $600, btwo brad nailers, Porter Cable, grey and black, with cases, $250 each, compressor, Rolair, green, $2,000
Also stolen from outside the residence was a large number of pieces of staging of various lengths, including those in excess of 16 feet.
There were double wide tire impressions in the mud outside the residence indicating a large trailer was used in the theft.
There have also been other large scale thefts involving generators, large quantities of gasoline, atv tires and plow all occurring in the Pictou West area.
