Arson – Shelburne

November 19th, 2008 the Shelburne Fire Department contacted the RCMP reporting a fully engulfed fishing vessel at Seaway Fabrications. As a result of the fire the fishing vessel was completely destroyed. It was believed the cause of the fire was arson.

The boat had been seized by DFO in May 2009 for carrying a large load of undersized lobsters and at the time of the fire was being held in the Shelburne boatyard. Total damage to the boat was $230,000 and total damage to the neighbouring boat was $85,000.
